Why not you? In our society, everyone has limitations placed on them by other people. These people can be simple pessimist, family members, colleagues, teammates, etc. Energy takers don't want others to be more successful than them, nor do they want to build you up and give you the self-confidence you need and deserve. Human nature tells us that we need to hear and see positive actions and words in order to be successful, reach goals, and care for others. We need energy givers. Everyone needs positivity. However, if you are only surrounded by negative, you are going to have significant difficulties trying to have an enlightening view and a positive approach to everyday life. Can't we make a persistent effort to give energy instead of take it? That is up to you!
What is holding you back? Is it because of other people? Absolutely not. It's YOU! Stop making excuses for not saying yes to change. Change is good. Within our lifetime we experience so much change. From relationships, jobs, weight gain/loss, and some much more, but all of it is part of a journey called LIFE. Life is something that we HAVE to do. We must attack our everyday lives with a certain mindset that will not allow or accept mediocrity. If you are tired of feeling tired and drowsy, depressed, or unmotivated, it's time for you to make a change. First, you have to start making a consistent effort to take care of yourself (TCOY). Your health is such an important part in your overall success. This can consist of you getting more sleep on a nightly basis, drinking more water, eating healthier, or just turning off the television and picking up a novel or going to the gym. We ALL must be mentally, physically, and spiritually/emotional healthy. These three components must balance out for good overall health and wellness and we must exercise all of them, not just focus on one or two components. Second, you must SEVER THE TIES WITH ENERGY TAKERS AND SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO GIVE YOU ENERGY a.k.a. LIFE. Find people who do not have a hidden agendas, who are not entitled, or they do not have the "what's in it for me?" attitude. Our society has become so desensitized through social media, news, and music and it has lead people to have this "hidden agenda" or "vindictive" mentality. Conditional friendships and relationships aren't very enjoyable and tend to end in drama. Surround yourself with givers. People who give you positive feedback, encouragement, tough love, self-accountability, advice, and just a genuine vibe. This is similar to AGAPE love. This is an unconditional love for others. Selflessness is at the forefront of this love. We all need it, but it is very hard to come by because people have not been completely exposed to it. Try to bring this love to life in your schools, community, and workplace. You could potentially see results just by making a simple change. Lastly, ask yourself, "Do I want to make the world a better place"? Exactly. We all want our world to be a better place. That is common sense. However, why is it so hard for people to do? You would think that throughout our communities we would have a better understanding on how to live appropriately and respect and care for one another genuinely, but some just don't quite grasp the concept. I want our future generations to be allowed to live a life full of happiness and love (GIVERS), not a life full of hate and violence(TAKERS). We need to be the example and this MUST start today! Love your neighbors as you love yourself. Plain and simple. Go out and make it happen and leave the excuses at home. Change Your Mentality! I am a giver of life everyday even if I don't feel like it. I am no different than you. Thank you for your time! Robert K. Troutman Certified Giver of Energy

How many times have you told yourself"I just don't want to do this"? It is something I hear often from several young adults that walk the halls of the school and throughout the community on a daily basis. Being young in 2016 is very difficult. The distractions that our teenagers encounter from social media to drugs and alcohol, have opened the floodgates to laziness, defeat, and confusion. Our youth is in trouble. As a teacher, mentor, and coach I try to promote a positive learning environment and atmosphere for all students and I diligently work on building relationships to help facilitate learning and positive growth within the school-wide community. It is a battle I want to win each and every day, please join me in the efforts to help our future generations get a grip on their future.
America's foundation was built upon hard work, dedication, discipline, and blue-collar values. I want our future generations to be able to succeed and surpass the current one. RIght now, I don't see it. I see an instant gratification society creeping into our younger generation. Little by little, children and teens try to find ways to become instantly famous, act out until they can get what they want, or manipulate those around them to achieve their short term desires. I know this may sound somewhat embellished, but trust me, I see it happen all the time. Everyone wants the corner office on the 23rd floor, but nobody is willing to put in the work each and every day to EARN it. We need DISCIPLINE, we need CHARACTER, and we need INTEGRITY. America needs you, she needs me, and she needs citizens that LOVE and RESPECT what she represents. Bring back ACCOUNTABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY in lives of our adolescent community and see what types of change come to light. Truthfully, this is my heart and I want to regain our society one by one, refocus the lens on life, and lead by example. Parents, this includes you! UNIFY and BELIEVE that we can and we WILL! How can you make a change? It's quite simple really, change your mindset. Start working out! Eliminate the negative that surrounds you. Start believing in yourself. If you have to cut ties with a friend that causes drama or brings you down, do it! A boyfriend or girlfriend who mistreats you, do it! You are responsible for your happiness. Protect your mind. Your mind is a valuable tool. If you fill it with senseless tv dramas, tweets, pictures, vulgar music, or any toxic substances that hinder it, you are not doing yourself any favors. If you are reading this, you have to educate your mind, protect your body, and cultivate your spirit. Your mind is a muscle, if you don't use it, you lose it. Make sure you are taking advantage of opportunities that are given to you to learn, read, practice, and utilize skills to help you become successful in ALL of your endeavors. Just wanted to share my view, thank you for your time. Robert K. Troutman February 24, 2016 |
